Before YIGLEAM, there was dance.

For more than a decade, our founder, Yige, grew up on the Latin dance floor. She learned to notice the smallest things: a movement repeated until it became effortless, a fall followed by another attempt, the quiet discipline behind a moment that appeared beautiful.

Dance taught her something she would understand more deeply with time:

The most beautiful things are rarely formed in an instant.

Neither are pearls.

A pearl develops slowly within a living mollusk, as layer upon layer of nacre gathers over time. What eventually emerges is not manufactured into perfect uniformity. Each pearl carries subtle differences in its shape, surface, color, and luster — traces of the journey that formed it.

Perhaps that is why pearls have always felt so deeply connected to women.

We know that time changes us.

Youth passes. Faces change. Life leaves its marks. We experience love and disappointment, ambition and uncertainty, responsibility and loss. We become daughters, friends, partners, mothers, leaders, creators — sometimes many of these at once.
